The Town of Billerica is working hard to ensure the COVID vaccine is accessible to all community members who want to get one. This is their second clinic for children receiving their first dose of the vaccine. They reached out to us here at the Recreation Department to help make the event less stressful for the kids getting their shots by providing distractions and fun! We are putting together a carnival style event to support their efforts with inflatables, popcorn, a fire truck, a balloon man and a magician, games, and fidget toys as give-aways. I believe the addition of therapy dog teams will be beneficial to those children who may experience this as a traumatic event and could use the support, comfort, and distraction of a therapy dog. Teams can choose to be indoors or outdoors based on their personal comfort level and the weather the day of the event. We hope you can join us!
