About the Event

This is what the school is hoping the event will look like:

  • Volunteers  gather outside between 8:00 and 8:15.
  • Volunteers will go to each classroom:

       8:15-8:30 Kindergarten and Access Room 

       8:30-8:45: Grade 1

       8:45-9:00: Grade 2

       9:00-9:15: Grade 4, and Access Room 4

       9:15-9:30: Grade3

  • Each 15 minutes, in the classroom, volunteers talk briefly about the benefits of pet therapy and how having them can make someone feel happy or calm when they are sad, nervous, or angry.  Students say hello to the animals.  After 15 mins, the team switches classrooms.

3. Parking arangements: There is a parking lot in the front of the school.

4. COVID Protocol : None at this time

5. Pets & People Event notes:

  • Remember your ID badge and your dog in the vest with Pets & People patch. Cats are exempt from wearing a vest.
  • Always have a face mask with you at any event.  While protocols will be changing, it is important that all participants at Events feel comfortable and safe.  Mask guidelines for each event are listed on Event Details.
  • Be sure pet is clean, coat and teeth brushed and nails clipped.
  • Please remember our protocols state no pet interaction.  If teams interact with any other pets always watch each dog's reactions and be proactive.
  • Do not post pictures of any individuals you visit as a Pets & People volunteer team on your personal social media pages.
